Beyond Myth Discovering the Religious History of India 2
Today let talk about of the origin of the universe :MAHAVISHNU AND MULTIVERSE.
‘‘Time isn’t a straight line but an infi nite loop. Ancient Hindu sages spoke of Vishnu’s breath birthing cosmic cycles, while modern science unravels the Big Bang—both whispering the same truth: the universe dances to time’s eternal rhythm.’’According to the Hindu scriptures time isnt a straight line but a loop…a cycle of cosmic events. It is a spinning wheel consisting of four prominent era or YUGA : SATYAYUGA,TRETAYUGA,DWAPARA YUGA and KALIYUGA each lasting thousands of divine years. It is said that every 4.32 billion years, the wheel completes a full turn—a Mahayuga—before dissolving into cosmic waters (pralaya) and rising anew. While the Big Bang paints a fi ery origin story, scientists proposes something startlingly familiar: universes don’t truly die. Instead, they fade into featureless energy, sparking new Big Bangs. It’s Mahavishnu’s breath, interpreted through equations .therefore …
“Whether through myth or math, we’re haunted by cycles—the universe’s way of whispering, ‘This is not the fi rst time.’’
I am talking about THE Mahavishnu …but who is Mahavishnu.
We say that the TRINITY is the supreme power. But there is someone who is far beyond this material world, who always remains at the apex, someone who cannot be described even using all the available words in the dictionary, who is beyond human comprehension. He is the MAHAVISHNU. The “MAHAVISHNU THEORY” within Vaishnava cosmology describes Mahavishnu as the source of all universes. The above image is quite famous. It depicts him in his cosmic sleep or in YOGNIDRA [THE KARANODAKASAYI VISHNU] in the causal ocean. THERE IS ONLY 1 GOD NARAYANA /VISHNU) NO SECOND TO HIM – YAJUR VEDA .All the Universes & MULTI UNIVERSES are created by Breath of GOD Vishnu. VISHNU is SPACE/ VISAM / UNIVERSES, so no one can Exist with out SPACE /VISHNU. From pores of Maha Vishnu a large number of universes keep emanating and merging back into him. The life span of one universe is thus a breath of Maha Vishnu. When Maha-Vishnu exhales, the material elements and universes emanate from Him, and when He inhales, the universes are destroyed and merge back into His body .Thus the universes and their respective Brahmas are created and destroyed with every breath of Maha-Vishnu. The entire cycle-one breath of Maha-Vishnu, or one lifetime of Brahma-is said to take nearly 310 trillion solar years. We say that everything is scripted in this world ,that SCRIPT is said to be the dream of mahavishnu. This concept suggests that the material world is a temporary manifestation ‘‘MAYA’’ within Vishnu s dream .It is real for its components for ex. the humans but is ultimately perishable and destined to dissolve back when he awakens.so fascinating .Mahavishnu now expands into Garbhodakasayi Vishnu within each universe, becoming the source of life and consciousness for that particular cosmos. Garbhodakasayi Vishnu further expands into Kshirodakshayi Vishnu (also known as Vishnu), who resides in the Kshirsagar (ocean of milk). Kshirodakshayi Vishnu is associated with the creation, maintenance, and destruction of the universe,
often represented by the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The theory also aligns with the concept of a multiverse, where countless universes exist simultaneously, each with its own unique characteristic. Now lets talk about invidual universe. According to the Vishnu purana Lord Brahma emerged from the cosmic lotus which arose from the naval of this Kshirodakshayi Vishnu and was assigned the task of creation ..the creation of life. Some theories suggest that Lord Shiva arose from the forehead of Lord Brahma while some suggest he arose from between the eyebrows of Vishnu while some suggest he existed solely . India being a land vast diversity has multiple cultures each believing in their own philosophy. And now the story of creation of life starts .
What I have realized is that though questioned by many, science and faith can work side by side, and instead of debating them, we should openly accept them all. Science explains how; Hinduism explores why. One isn’t “right”—they’re different sides of the same cosmos. These contrasts don’t cancel each other. They dance together in a song yet to be deciphered. And I think this is what makes these stories and theories interesting. Isn’t it.
Did you know that Lord Brahma was actually born with a single head and curse he carries ? Well.. that’s a story for next time .And i know you all will come to listen it .
